Calore river is the son of Cilento entirely, which must be accompanied by the adjectives "Lucanian" or "Salernitan", to distinguish it from the northernmost homonym that flows between Irpinia and Sannio.
The bridge linking Roscigno to Sacco in the territory of the latter crosses the Sammaro, exactly above the spring.
Apart from its Lucanian origin, Tanagro is the river of Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, because it flows into it for most of its 92 meters course.
With its 37 kilometres, it is among Cilento main watercourses, of which it is particularly rich. It rises from the slopes of mount Cervati, 900 metres of altitude from the spring of Varco La Pela in the municipality of Sanza.
It is an integral part of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park to which they were added later, the Alburni are a mountainous massif between the Sele valley and the Tanagro valley.
At sunset, the sleeping Lioness turns pink. Among the various denominations refering to Mount Bulgheria,
Gebe el son, Monte dell’idolo. An official name of Arabic origins, which fits perfectly with the mountain of the Lucan Subappennines considered sacred at all times.
