Acciaroli originally Lazzarùlo known as “de Canniclo” was, together with San Primo, the first maritime landing, one of the most important and ancient customs of Cilento pertaining to Cannicchio.
The route starts from the sea and goes up the hills, as the inhabitants of Marina did in the past, forced to run from the repeated Saracen invasions, finding refuge in the nearby feud of Cannicchio. Starting from the church called "Sancta Maria de laczarulo", crossing the town through Via Vascio(Vascio Street), where the fishermen's shelters were located, precisely called vasci (“low”in dialect), because they were located below the road. At the end of this ancient passage, going up the main road that leads on the provincial road, near a junction for Pollica, we find the old natural path that cuts the hill until it intersects again with the road that takes us to another path, in the direction of the tiny Church of San Rocco. Passing the building, going towards the feud of Cannicchio and crossing the inhabited area on the steps/petenghe we are on the provincial road again, in direction of Pollica up to the deviation for another asphalted road, once a mule track. Along this road, we go down towards Marina, not far from the Torre del Caleo and its small and bright beach of rounded pebbles. Continuing for a while on the asphalt, we return to Acciaroli, this time via the beach in the direction of the dock, which will take us back to the starting point: the churchyard of the Mother Church.
