It can be reached from Grottadaspide to the north or from Vallo della Lucania to the south.
It is one of the natural masterpieces of the innermost Cilento, the result of the forming and transforming action of the Calore river, which has dug and continues to shape five canyons in the karst rock characteristic of that territory.
Of those spectacular gorges, the fourth and fifth are located in Remolino, in the municipality of Felitto.
The Oasis of Remolino, where the dam of an old disused hydroelectric power plant remains, offers a landscape completely dominated by nature, which allows you to bathe in the heat or go up it with pedal boats and canoes and practice canyoning. The trekking uses spectacular paths, following the course of the river or reach the natural rock bridge in Pretatetta or the medieval bridge of Felitto or Bennardo Cave, where a hermit retired to live in a stone structure built by brigands.
Among its peculiarities, the gorge oasis is also a fern paradise: 372 species have been recorded, of which 73 are rare and 3 are very rare. And they are often found associated with horsetail. But the entire site is a triumph of both plant and animal biodiversity. Among the plants there are viburnum, buckthorn, laurel, myrtle, mastic, strawberry tree, heather, ivy, manna ash, ash, maple, willow, alder, hornbeam and laburnum, carob, but also cactus. The kestrel, the goshawk, the peregrine falcon and the buzzard nest on the high rocky walls where the gorges open up. The local avifauna also includes jay, dipper, kingfisher, green woodpecker and rock sparrow. And numerous otter specimens live in the river.
