Arriving from Naples, the first step of the Coast is Vico Equense, set in the rocks, which overhang on the sea.
At the foot of the Montechiaro, along the itinerary which leads to the enchantment of Costa delle Sirene, Meta is covered by the colouristic effect of the of the olive tree groves, of the gardens and of the citrus groves.
The area of Piano was inhabited from prehistory, colonised by the Greeks, and inhabited by the Osci and Campanians.
Between rocky coasts suspended in the air, marine and hilly neighbourhoods, it is the smallest district of the Coast and the greenest one.
The amenity of the place has influenced the most popular etymology of the name, coming from the sirens, who lived in the sea area in front of the promontory of Sorrento, from where they easily attracted more travellers.
The last centre of the Sorrentine Coast is full of greenery and gardens like the historic one “The Jesus”, an ancient citrus grove implanted by the Jesuits in the 17th century, when the big college known as “Il Quartiere” (the area).
