We are in the Archaeological Park of Elea/Velia, in the municipality of Ascea Marina, in a site still under excavation, a visit among old and young discoveries awaits us.
This was one of the richest cities of Magna Graecia, the place where the “western thinking” was born, as well as the homeland of Parmenides and Zenone and many other surprises, leaving us a sweet feel of a past time and at the same time very current. The route will start from the southern quarter, from which slowly, going up, we will cross the Roman and Hellenistic baths between imperial and medieval buildings, up to the only arch of the Greek age so far discovered in the world, "Porta Rosa", along the walkway up the Crinale degli Dei(Crest of the Gods), where we will stop to admire a landscape full of mountain ridges in the background, to the north, and the horizon line of the sea, to the south, surrounded by what once were nine sacred areas and accompanied by lavender plants and typical Mediterranean vegetation.
