Core of the Cilento area, Monte della Stella rises a few kilometers from the coast, between the two Greek cities of Poseidonia and Elea, in the middle of the "Ancient Cilento" of which it represents the origin and identity due to its ancient history,
That has seen him as a protagonist since prehistoric times. Starting from the square of San Mauro Cilento, we will walk towards the path that leads to the top, at 1130m a.s.l., passing through Castelluccio and its panoramic Longobard ruins, and then through the sacred area of the Megaliths, which has always been a ritual place for the pilgrim of the past willing to obtain accesses to the top. Arriving at the top, between the sanctuary of the Madonna della Stella and the modern “Radar Castle“, we will make a short stop to observe the skyline across the entire central territory of Cilento and beyond. From there we will resume the downhill journey to return to San Mauro. Those who wish, can conclude their excursion around the comfortable tables of "Al Frantoio", to enjoy a typical lunch based on zero-kilometer organic products, prepared by the hands of the women of Sanmauro.
