With its imposing 1899 meters high, the Cervati is the second of the highest mountains in Campania and the highest in Cilento.

It belongs to the Lucan Apennines and it rises in the central-southern part of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, in the forest of Pruno and is included in the territories of the municipalities of Sanza, Piaggine and Monte San Giacomo. It gives life to the great river Calore Lucano. Surrounded by other mountains, it is close to the Cima di Mercori, which reaches 1789 meters and is the second peak of Cilento.cervati 1

At 1852 meters there is a small sanctuary dedicated to the Madonna della Neve and, a slightly below, a chapel inside a natural cave. Near the church, you can enjoy a magnificent view from a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the wildest side of the mountain. Below the religious buildings, the Pellegrino Refuge is active in summer and winter.
