It’s only a Museum of Contemporary Art according to its name, but in reality, this small museum in the basement of the Government Palace in central Corso Garibaldi offers a surprising exhibition inside.

If the temporary exhibitions are dedicated to contemporary art, the permanent one "Iside the scandalous and the magnificent - Journey into myth between real and virtual" is dedicated to the extraordinary heritage of original Egyptian artifacts from the city of Benevento. It is a unique collection, because these are not pieces imported from Egypt, but artifacts all found on site, which were part of the endowment of the Temple to Iside, built at the time of Domitian, in 88-89 AD and remained active until the edict of Constantine. It was impossible to point the precise location, but the temple was probably in the eastern area, because that is where most of the artifacts, accidentally resurfaced in 1903, were found. Statues mostly, cult objects and one of the two pink granite obelisks in the city. Dedicated to the "Lady of Benevento" and to the Isiac cults are the 3D clips introducing the exhibition, linked to the reconstruction of the temple interior, completing a richly evocative tour.
