The most impressive mountain of the Picentini takes its name from the deers, numerous in the past but disappeared nowadays. The Picentini is one of the highest mountains in Campania . the Cervialto.
Surrounded by other mountains with the same chain as the Campania Appenines, raised in the city’s areas of Bagnoli Irpino and Calabritto, dominating the upland of Laceno from where one of the two ways start and lead to two summit ridges, one down to 1806 meters and the other down to 1809 meters.
Covered only by grass which indicates the karstic origin, the summit is differentiated from the slopes of the mountain wrapped by dense forests, from which is including the vastest beach forest of the South of Italy, a real nature masterpiece habited by plant species and by several species of wild animals. From the summit, usually covered with snow, during the clear days it is possible to see both the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian sea.
