At the feet of Mount Tifata, on the west side of the mountain, there is a little green lung that, thanks to bond between man and nature, can be defined a shelter of quietness.

The wood of St. Vito is a clear historical monument that houses both naturalistic and archeological beauties.

The wood is crossed by a famous hiking trail called "the King's path", named after Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, who invited the rulers of Europe to his famous hunting expeditions. The path starts from the lowest part of the wood, continues reaching the highest point and comes out on the plateau next to Hill St. Iorio (280m), famous for its furrowed field, a microform of superficial karst, from where the infinite view of the Campanian plain under the slopes of Monte dei Lupi (460 m) and Monte Tifata (603 m) can be admired. From there we go back following a ring path inside the forest, walking next to the various cavities rich in spring waters that, from various points in the forest, converge at the main cistern of the St. Vito aqueduct. This, through its many channels, brings water up to Capua. The dense vegetation of the wood is characterized by the presence of holm oak, field maple, downy oak, elm and hornbeam; in the undergrowth, on the other hand, we find ivy, wild fennel, mastic, milk thistle, dog rose, myrtle. In addition to the wildlife of the area such as badgers, foxes, porcupines and dormice, the spectacled salamander, a native species of the southern Apennines, is often sighted here. Bonus Panor Monte Tifata

It's not a surprise that the Romans called this place the "source of wealth" for the many reasons that are clearly visible on the truly incomparable path of the King, also thanks to the Volturno river. And the goal of this excursion is to draw attention to the protection of these small realities that give us scenarios unique of their kind.

"I am Leonardo and I am proud to be a son of #campaniafelix. I was born and raised in my beautiful wild province with survival in my soul and awareness in the mind. In the past I tried to break the mold by going to live in the woods, then I eventually returned to the fire triangle, but only after I really got it clear what my mission was and now I'm back as an AIGAE guide.
