A long wait for a great dream. More than a decade was needed from the conclusion of the restoration of the Quisisana Palace in Castellammare to see the still earlier project of giving worthy place to the extraordinary heritage of murals and finds from the villas of ancient Stabia, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius of 79 AD. And on Thursday, September the 24th, at 11, it will be the great day of the inauguration of the new museum spaces, set up by the team of the Pompeii Archaeological Park, to which the Castellammare Municipality entrusted last year with the care of the museum and the archaeological areas. The prestigious materials on display come from those, but the villas are also an integral part of the project. Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco, particularly, are already integrated in the circuit centered on the museum, which will be available in a few days.

The event will be attended by the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Tourism Dario Franceschini, the Mayor Gaetano Cimmino and the new general director of the museums of the Ministry, Massimo Osanna, who as director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii (a position he still holds ad interim) had signed last year the agreement with the Municipality, decisive to open the way to the transformation of the palace into a museum center.
