The "secret" of the renowned Capri perfumes is in a small wild carnation.

A small plant that grows among the rocks and dresses in pink in summer, when it spreads its delicate fragrance in the air. And it was in the summer that he revealed the peculiarity that would have made it precious. It happened when Queen Giovanna I of Anjou landed on the island in the summer of 1380. The abbot of the time, suddenly warned that the sovereign would not fail to visit the Certosa di San Giacomo and not having time for other homages , rushed to collect some colorful wildflowers with which he adorned the rooms that were about to welcome the sovereign. When, three days later, the abbot went to remove the bunches, he noticed that the water in which they were left had a pleasant scent, which came from the rustic pink carnations in full seasonal bloom. And so Dianthus silvestris revealed its magic, inspiring the creation of Capri perfumes. And still today the small flower of the cliffs is the basis of the typical essences created on the island.
