The Monte Mutria, at the border between Molise and Campania, is part of the Matese mountains.
Its peak is developing eastward- westward, on five kilometres with seven calcareous rounded hilltops of naked rocks, interspersed by vast meadows used as pastures for the crudes and the horses’ herds.
From the peaks you can admire the Tammaro valley, the Calore and the Volturno; and Both the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic sea. Considered as a sacred sea for the Samnites, right on the peak we can see a chapel dedicated to Saint Antony of Padua. With a considerable environmental importance due to its biological diversity, it is an oasis of fauna protection.
