Imagine that you have just visited one of the most particular and interesting archaeological sites of the Phlegraean Fields, the Mirabilis Pool, and to smell the unmistakable scent of the nearby sea.

The sunny day is still long and it would be pleasant to enjoy the “idleness of Baia” that made it one of the favorite holiday destinations for Roman patricians. Just turn behind the swimming pool to find yourself in via Pennata, at the entrance to Villa Mirabilis: a few steps and you reach a delightful cove, nestled behind the small island of Punta Pennata, among tuffaceous rocks covered in Mediterranean vegetation. It is the patch of sand of the Schiacchetiello beach, which also includes a stretch of cliff. According to legend, it was there that Ulysses chose to land, along the Phlegraean Fields, attracted by the amazing beauty of that unspoiled and wild stretch of coast, which still retains its archaic charm. The beautiful seabed can be appreciated by snorkeling. The small beach can also be reached by boat from the port of Miseno.
