The Monti Picentini are a mountain range of the Campanian Apennines where you can identify about fifteen peaks, from the highest Monte Cervialto (1809 m) to the lowest Altillo (1430 m)
The range presents widespread karst phenomena which, together with high rainfalls, create ideal conditions for the presence of several streams. With the water found locally and the dense green cover of beech woods and chestnut groves, predominant depending on the altitude, the Picentini summarise perfectly the main characteristics of the Irpinia area. Between the numerous species of wildlife, they also “host” some examples of hirpus, the wolf. The regional Park they give their name to, as well as the natural Oasis of Monte Polveracchio and the Wwf Oasis of Valle della Caccia are the testimonies of the their natural heritage importance
