The waters of the Ofanto, blocked by a dam, form the artificial basin of the lake of Conza, built in the 1970’s between Lioni and Calitri, in the Conza’s district area, the ancient samnite Compsa.

Extended for almost 800 hectares, the lake which is frequented by a hundred birds species as a crossing and a stopping point along the migratory routes, is the biggest humid area of the Campania, recognized at European-level and protected by a WWF oasis open the the public.
