It is said that St Francis, passing through on his journey to the East, spoke to the fish from the rock that now bears his name and on which a cross is placed in his honour.

Between the port of Agropoli and the much more famous bay of Trentova lies this small beach of sand and pebbles, which can be reached on foot, from the port, along Via San Francesco on which there is a small church also dedicated to the Poverello of Assisi.

Trentova Beach

The thirty eggs evoked by the name probably refer to turtle eggs found in one of the caves that surround it, among the rocks covered by wild vegetation. Separating them from the sea is Trentova beach, a narrow tongue of sand bathed by a sea that turns from emerald green to all shades of blue. Not by chance declared a few years ago a 'wonder of Italy', it is among the most beautiful beaches on the northern stretch of the Cilento coast. Easy to reach, with well-equipped lidos, it is frequented by families and the elderly also because of its shallow waters. Ideal for snorkelling, it is also known for a characteristic white rock, which the reflections of the sea paint blue, telling stories of Homeric heroes and sirens.IMG 8560 1920 1080IMG 4071IMG 4065
