It rises at the foot of Mounts Trebulani, at 86 meters above sea level, in the territory of Calvi Risorta.
The length of the river is 14.5 kilometres and it flows in what it what, in the 17th century, were the feuds of Lanza di Capua family, from which it takes its name. After having marked for a fifth of its way the border between Calvi Risorta and Pignataro Maggiore, it meets Sparanise and then Sant’Andrea del Pizzone, the most populous part of Francolise. There, the torrent Savone flows, with which it continues its way down to Mondragone, where, once crossing the Domitiana, it meets the Tyrrhenian Sea.
